Tell us about ANTHONY1.

ANTHONY1

Anthony1 makes dance music inspired by SoundCloud music since 2019, also likes to play ddr whenever it's possible and skate and goes drink bubble tea sometimes.

This music is kinda bad in my opinion but it's good to play live sometimes it's fun.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

Tell us a bit about your 2020 joint project, ‘Ateriavia’.

ANTHONY1

So this started as me wanting to do a collab ep with exodia, that ended in a split, I knew sticki from Dismiss Yourself quite well at the time so we started working on this, eventually the idea of adding sienna sleep came and so everything happened as it did, a triple split were we showcased each sound of us.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

Does the album follow a narrative?

ANTHONY1

Not really it's just 2 songs from each artist which were compiled and mastered by sienna, we complimented on each other whenever we sent wips so it wrapped as an album pretty quick.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

Many of our viewers may not know about the HexD genre. How would you describe the sound to someone who has not heard it?

ANTHONY1

It's a broad term but for me is the technique of bitcrushing and distorting sound to create a song or remix or flip a track, there's no specific way to do it, what i like doing is to "hex" synths and other instruments and join them together so it feels kind of stereo like, same goes for livesets and such.

Nowadays it's a dead term for me due to people moving on to other genres and me personally trying to get away from that sound but I still like noise in a way of not being the main focus of a song so there's room to improve.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

What sounds in the underground have been inspiring you recently?

ANTHONY1

I think purity filter has been an influence lately, c3ntell4 and hemicranea from Chile has been too, when it comes to music I like I've been deep in SoundCloud but nothing that has caught my attention as those above.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

How would you describe your style as an artist?

ANTHONY1

As of rn, i'm trying to have more movements on my songs, therefore taking more time to make them, but the idea of sextrance is there if it's anthony1 doing the music.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

Earlier this year, we featured your Team Mekano project mekanoworld.xyz. Tell us a bit about this release.

ANTHONY1

It's the second release of team mekano a girl pop noise rock metal jazz shoegaze band i'm in, (joke), it continued the idea of the first release were each member did 2 songs and compiled them, as an approach of an album it didn't come quite as one but I liked seeing each member getting better at music these last 2 years wich motivates me to be better too so that's that.

I don't quite like the release but I do like some songs from it.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

What inspires you creatively outside of music?

ANTHONY1

I think internet is the influence that has the most inspiration, saturation of information is something I love and try to replicate on my music when I have 5 layers of the same synth or something dumb like that that makes me not wanna mix anything at all.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

What would you like to accomplish as a creative?

ANTHONY1

I'm trying to do a kickflip or some wierd skateboard trick, and also would love to play instruments live on some projects.

ETHEREAL.PRESS

What's next for Anthony1?

ANTHONY1

As of music I'm currently not on anything besides songs for comps, but I'm very willing to make our local Chilean label Sello Medio Oriente to work as good as possible, therefore it has been my main focus on the last months so be sure to check them out we just released an EP by Segunda Mordida who is a member of team mekano, me personally i love this ep yall should hear it.

There's been 2 side projects I'm working on which involve shoegaze and breakcore together and another one were I wanna scream with a guitar and blast breakcore beats, tryna ripoff Curse of the Golden Vampire but better executed.
